Do me a favor ~ Smile!

So, what’s the deal with smiling?  As human beings, smiling is one of the great mysteries related to our species.  Although some animals seem to express emotion, there is no doubt when it comes to humans, that smiling definitely communicates warm fuzzies.

Did you know that “Smilers” not only appear to be more contented but generally are perceived as more capable?  Additionally, they have longer and more successful relationships when they hook up with another “Smiler”.  Let’s face it, smiling is universal.  Most people, no matter where in the world they are, “get” a smile when one is given.  Smiling is the most frequent means of communication.  More than 35% of us smile more than 20 times a day and less than 15 % of us smile less than 5 times a day.

Have you ever been at a family get-together or a public place and gotten “the smile” from a child?   And when all is quiet or everyone is eating so it goes unnoticed, you do it..… just then, you have to smile back, right?  Children have magical powers when it comes to smiling.  Not only do children smile on the average 4oo times a day but it’s infectious when  they do. They make you smile back.

It was Mother Theresa who said, “I will never understand all the good that a simple smile can accomplish.”    Fact is, when you smile, you look and feel good.  When others see you smile, they almost have to smile.  Then they get to look and feel good too.  So share a smile with someone today….. it’s free and it feels good.  ~  Kelly Devine
